I am fortunate to have a good fortune of teaching as a guest lecturer or speaker at some of the good schools in India. I always tend to ask from students, what is the key to my success in life? As I sometime still wonder and I am still figuring it out. I know that I am still far from perfection, I do have good and bad days but yes I follow some guiding values and principles which have made me what I am today.
1. Live life with passion and integrity
It’s time to be the best NOW. Never compromise with your values because it’s the values that keep you going and happy till the end of your life. We all make mistakes but strive enough to get back to your values. Everything and everyone will leave you one day but if you have your values intact, your life will be meaningful till end.
Passion is the fuel which keeps you going despite failures. Success does not create happiness but, yes happiness always creates success. When you do what ignites your soul, at that time you are most alive and give your 200% and extraordinary things happen.
2. Find Mentors and role models to unleash your greatness
Sounds good and yes, this is the right thing to do if you are looking for best life. Let me ask you a very simple question…Do we really have extra time to follow hit and trail method and wait for the right time to come to us for becoming successful? Or it is advisable to find mentors and role models who have already achieved what you would like to achieve in life? If you want to be the best cricketer, follow what the best cricketer has done to achieve it. If you want to be world champion, study the lives of world champions and learn how they did it. Thus biographies are useful as you can learn from the experiences of the others and will increase your probability of success and avoid unnecessary mistakes.
Always remember history is a great teacher of what to do and what not to do.
3. Make growth as your mindset
By simply striving to learn, grow and to evolve gives you the most powerful force in your life. Be altruistic. Give more than you receive. When you create win-win situations, you not only help others to grow but you also grow in terms of your values and fame. We all are work in progress. Have this attitude, this mindset that growth is the life philosophy. Learn from experiences, books, lectures, videos, conference, history and any other medium and make it your golden opportunity to grow and become the best. The extraordinary man seeks what he can give to the world.
4. Make your peer group your brand
People know us by our peer group. Remember no one succeeds alone. There is one very famous proverb which says –‘If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.’
Surround yourself with people who inspire you to dream more, do more and be more in life. As it is very well said, you are the average of 5 people with whom we spend the most time. If you surround yourself with dreamers and achievers, you will become one in no time as they have positive energy to fuel extraordinary achievement. And if you surround yourself with haters and doubters, you will become the same. So choose your peer group very carefully to soar high.
5. Be in gratitude always….easiest way to understand the beauty of life
Being in gratitude makes us happier and thus it improves our health, relationship, emotions, personality and career. Writing a gratitude journal for 5 minutes in a day is enough to trigger you to a grateful mood as gratitude makes us feel more gratitude. Lead the life of spiritualism and love by following this simple rule.
We all are here to live our life in greatness, awesome and superb note. These five points are just a courtesy to remind us that yes we can do that. Pretty simple reality!!!
All the best.
